VECTOR FILES: Our designs are vector files, with the exception of those plates which display photographs (discussed below)... Vector file images are easy to resize and reproportion with high quality results... For example, most of our designs are also available on t-shirts and baseball hats (and other items) because we can re-work them quickly.       While our favorite vector file format is windows metafile (.wmf) because it's as close to a standard as exists, we also like Corel (.cdr) and Adobe (.ai), and we can import most encapsulated postscript (.eps) files. Do not save your file a a single curve. Saving as multiple curves makes corrections and adjustments much easier when needed.       BITMAP FILES: You want to create these in the size at which they will appear in the finished product, with minimum resolution of 300 dots per inch... 600 dots per inch is even better... More than 600 dots per inch is not visually better unles you're using a magnifying glass. We can work with standard formats like (.bmp), (.gif), (.jpg), & (.tif).       FILE FORMATS: There are many file formats we cannot open... These include those created by presentation, printing, and word-processing programs published by many firms who want to make their formats an industry standard... Because of their number, we cannot keep them all installed on our design computers... If the program you're using is realy good, it will alow you to export your design to a hi-res graphic file of standrd format.       WEB GRAPHICS: You're welcome to send us graphics you've found to show us what your idea is, BUT, don't expect us to be able to use them in your design idea... This is because they are usually of low-resolution and small in size... They neither print well nor can they stand enlargement.       SCANNING IMAGES: If your scanner is last year's model, we'd prefer to scan the image for you... We get beautiful results from our 4600 by 4600 scanner, and we've become quite good (even if we do say so ourselves) at working the scan with our graphics software to achieve the best possible final results. Most of the time we do not charge for scanning, and submitted art is returned with your order. (Art submitted must fit on the scanner bed.)       If you know you can produce really nice scan files, feel free to make your scan file and submit it by email. Maximum size of an image to appear on a plate between the screw slot rows is 4 inches high. If you are doing a full plate image, the plate measures 12 inches wide by 6 inches high. While you can come very close to plate edge, we do not recommend edge bleeds. If you are using Corel Draw, we can email you a license plate template file.       ART: Line art must be sharp, crisp, and evenly colored. Repairing scans of poor quality line art is sheer drudgery, and you won't like our prices for additional art time. Line art can be larger (but not smaller) than its final size.       PHOTOGRAPHS: Best quality possible, and at least as large as it will appear when finished. While we have at times created files that looked better than the original, you will probably not want to pay for the additional art time.       SKETCHES, DRAWINGS: WHITE NON-TEXTURED PAPER! The considerations in the above paragraphs also apply. Pencil drawings scan badly... Use a black flair pen.       If we seem picky, I offer no apology... We are constantly amazed at the beautiful quality of the plates we make, and we don't like sending out a so-so product any more than we think you'd like receiving it.       SUBSTRATES: We use the sublimation printing process because it has many wonderfull advantages and produces beautiful work. Even so, no process is perfect... Sublimation requires printing to white or very light colored backgrounds to ensure color visibility and fidelity. Keep this in mind when providing art for t-shirts, caps, mugs, etc.       TRADE LINES: Unless specifically agreed between us before production, all of our license plates bear a discreet trade line telling where they came from. It contains our copyright notice, our website, and our telephone number. You will find this helpfull to you if you if you want more plates in future and you've forgotten our address. If you are an artist who wishes to re-sell plates with your art at arts and craft shows, we will apply your trade line. let us add the line with vector typesetting for clarity.       CONTENT: We will print just about anything you want on a plate, but we remind you that many states have obscenity laws :). As a matter of policy we refuse to produce plates which promote racial or religious predjudice or hatred.       Let's work together and produce some really nice stuff!       REPRODUCTIONS OF COLLECTOR PLATES...       The plate needs to be scanned and the digitized image saved full-size at 300 or higher dots per inch resolution as a non-compressed non-interlaced JPG file. If you have no scanner, or if you did not understand the last sentence, many copy centers can perform this service for you...       Send us the graphic file... Do NOT send us the plate... Keeping in mind how we make them, the plate you receive will not be embossed (no raised surfaces) but often it will have an embossed look because of the shadings in the scanned image file... This is usually dependent upon the plate colors... Your graphic file can be emailed to Marceen@neatplates.Com       $20 US brings the plate to your U.S. address... Be sure to fill out an on-line order form giving us your graphic file name and your shipping and payment information. |
